Community Planning Month Recap – October was national “Community Planning Month,” which is an annual event established to educate and create awareness on community planning issues. The Glendora Planning Department participated with several events around the City. Below is a recap:

October 10, 2017 – In conjunction with the American Planning Association, the City Council proclaims October as Community Planning Month; presents proclamation to Planning Commission Chair Andrew Jared.

October 25, 2017 – Planning Department staff provides a presentation to five senior Civics classes at Charter Oak High School, introducing students to basic concepts of City/Urban Planning. Topics discussed included zoning, development standards and common environmental impacts of development. Considering that the students were high school senior preparing for college, the presentation also highlighted the various types of professional planners (Municipal, transportation, etc.) as well as the various stakeholders involved in the planning process (developers, elected officials, design professionals, etc.). The presentation culminated with a summary of recent development trends in Glendora ending with a discussion on the coming Gold Line station.

In addition to these activities, the Planning Department and Glendora Public Library set-up a month long display in the Library highlighting the city’s zoning map and Community Planning Month proclamation, as well as a general description of the entitlement process. Planning Department staff also placed common urban planning books along with a list of recommended urban planning literature on display.

Current Development – Details on new construction and a complete list of Current Zoning Applications are available on the City’s website via the link below.  Some of the highlighted projects are under construction, while others are under review and have not been approved.
