Volunteer Opportunities Especially for Teens

Find A Place to Volunteer

The Glendora Public Library is looking for friendly, computer-savvy teens to assist the public with our public computers. Afternoon and evening hours are available. This is a public service position, so a positive attitude is a must.

For more information about this position, please call the library at (626) 852-4891 and ask for Gaetano. If you are interested, you will need to fill out an application in person at the library. Other volunteer opportunities are available as well. These consist of helping the teen librarian change displays on bulletin boards, occasionally helping during programs and similar duties.

The library also has opportunities available for those teens who would like to help out in the Children’s Room. Duties may include shelving, assisting with crafts, preparing booklists, and creating displays. If you are interested, please fill out a volunteer application. If you have any questions, please contact the Children’s Room.

Note: If you have a volunteer requirement from your school (you need to have done X number of volunteer hours by X date) please understand the library cannot guarantee that it can fulfill all of these hours. Volunteering opportunities and hours are based solely on the library’s needs.

Volunteer Match

If no volunteer openings are available at the library, or if you would prefer to work in a different environment, Volunteer Match is another great source to meet your needs. It is a Web site which matches up volunteers with nearly 55,000 nonprofit organizations all over the U.S. Just visit the site, type in your zip code, and a list of local opportunities will appear, ranging from community centers, police departments, senior centers, hospitals, Red Cross, nature centers and more.

Court-appointed volunteer hours

If you need to fulfill court-appointed volunteer hours, call the Inland Valleys Resource Center in Pomona at 909-629-1187. There is a $40 fee. All ages accepted.

Another option is 1-800-volunteer.org. To find court-referral volunteer jobs in your area, use their Advanced Search feature: Type in the city in which you would prefer to volunteer, then click the "court referrals" box at the very bottom of the page, then click "search."
