Community Services Shining Star Award
The Community Services Department would like to recognize Elton Mui, Office Aide IV, as the June/July 2017 Shining Star.
Elton has been with the City of Glendora since April of 2016. He began his Community Service journey at the Parks Yard tackling tree inquiries and requests from the public. To increase Elton's knowledge of the department, Elton was then transferred to the main office covering the front desk, anserine general questions over the phone and taking registration for Fall classes and learning how to reserve facility rentals. Because Elton had done so well at both the Parks Yard, and Community Services main office, staff opted to round out his knowledge of the department and transferred him to the Transportation Division in November of 2016, where he currently resides.
In the short 6 months that Elton has been with the Transportation Division he has quickly learned about both City and regional transportation operations and has used his knowledge to help customers apply for and purchase TAP cards, obtain the correct bus pass, sign up for Glendora Dial-A-Ride, and plan trips to various destinations. In additional to traditional Office Aide task, Elton has also taken on the full responsibility of managing the City's employee alternative commute program, Altcom, as well as the City's new travel training club for older adults, the On the Move Riders Club.
He has been instrumental in the planning and implementation of the City's 2017 Bike Month events, attended every event, and even made the 9 mile bike to work on a handful of occasions to join in the celebration. He also take public transit to work at least two times a week!
Elton has been an extremely valuable addition to the Transportation Division and has embodied a positive, driven, and customer focused attitude since he began. For these reasons we would like to recognize Elton Mui as the Departments Shining Star for June/July 2017.
